Correlation between draft optimization and simulation
I have a question about how the optimization system works.
This draft was graded as 100% optimal, with every pick marked “You Nailed It” and no better alternatives shown. The game also indicates that this is the #2 ranked team I’ve ever drafted all-time.
Despite that, the season simulation finished 16-1 instead of undefeated.
I’m not necessarily saying it’s a bug, but I’m trying to understand the relationship between draft optimization, team ranking, and season results.
If a team is considered both:
100% optimal for the draft
The #2 team I’ve ever assembled
then how can it still lose a game?
Is there a significant random/chance component in the season simulation? Or does “100% optimal” simply mean I made all the correct draft choices, regardless of whether the resulting team actually goes undefeated?
It feels counterintuitive that one of the best teams I’ve ever built can finish 16-1 while weaker teams I’ve drafted in the past have gone undefeated.
