O-Line and Safety

Hey 17-0 Fam,I'm probably gonna get a lot of pushback on this, but figured I'd shoot my shot. I honestly had the thought that Rob could include and O-lineman slot in the arena. There's so many teams that have current standout o-linemen and there are even a good handful of teams who have an o-lineman who is considered a top 5 franchise player all time (Bruce Matthews for TEN for example). I think it would add some really good variety to the game, and every team has a couple world class O-lineman in their team's history. This would also make it less frustrating for when some of those not-so-fun teams pop up in the arena (Jags, Bengals, Titans) because it would give us more players to choose from instead of the same 3-4 players we pick from these crummy teams.Consequentially, I realized that if Rob were to add an O-lineman spot, we'd have 9 spots to draft which feels awkward. So I then thought why not remove the DB spot all-together, and instead add individual slots for safeties and cornerbacks? I would love to hear feedback on this from other players, but I feel like 90+% of the time whenever I'm picking a DB, it's a cornerback. Safeties deserve some love too, as the NFL has been blessed with so many legendary safeties.Obviously, with these two slots added, maybe the timer could be increased to 1:15 or 1:20. I get that it's an awkward amount of time, but I'm personally less concerned about the weird time and more so would like to see even more variety. I've been playing for a while and have a lot of wins, and love the way this game is designed so far. Rob is definitely way more qualified than me to speak on whatever these changes are a realistic possibility, but I would appreciate feedback from both him and any other players!

To add to this. Rather than complicate it for the casual fan, why not create a "Hardcore" mode or full team mode where you can draft from every position. 1 qb, 1 rb, 3 wrs, ol, dl, edge, lb, db, s. I think that could add a competitiveness level on top of the arena battles

This is a good idea. If you create a whole separate mode and mix it into the arena, then the more casual players or players who just don't like it can choose whether to participate in it or just sit that round out, since it would pop up on the "xxx on deck" bubble when the leaderboard is shown.

Thanks for the thoughts Neil! I too would love to get more linemen and safeties involved. Some of the trick is that both of those positions are difficult to grade algorithmically because of the lack of stats. The other is accessibility to the more casual fans. But I'm open to exploring this as I think it'd be a great addition

Great point Rob, I think O-lineman is definitely the hardest position to statistically evaluate from an objective standpoint. That being said, there are tons in the HOF! And plenty more who have made a ton of Pro Bowls, been long-tenured household names for their teams, etc. I honestly think a lot of us players would support your subjective evaluation of the O-lineman, since it definitely seems like you know ball and there have barely been any discrepancies on the thousands of players we see on the website. I know you have a bunch of other requests for changes for the website that can definitely be made a lot more quickly than something like my request. I would love to help out in any way I can if this is something you think can be realistically done, but in the meantime, keep the other updates going! This website is insanely fun. I find myself on it a lot whenever I have 5-10 minutes to sit around and nothing to do.

sorry for the rambling, just want to fully explain my thoughts!
